Meeting Update – March 12, 2020

As news of the COVID-19 Coronavirus continues to dominate conversation and news cycles, the AVANA board and Annual Meeting planning committee are taking precautions to keep our membership safe. In order to reduce exposure, we feel it would be in the organization’s best interest to limit gatherings of large groups of people, as advised by the CDC. 

Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, we are taking the action of canceling the Annual Meeting scheduled for May 14-17 in San Antonio. 

All of this may seem like extreme measures given the current situation, but we are interested in being proactive rather than reactive, realizing that all of our attendees will be affected by travel restrictions. The health of our members and staff cannot be repaired quite so easily should anyone be exposed to the virus.   

Throughout the next week, the AVANA office will be contacting registrants about refunding their registration fees. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the AVANA office at [email protected].
